Job Summary
The Senior Costing Analyst is a global position responsible for managing the product costing process for West’s production plants and distribution centers. They will interact with many departments across the organization and be a trusted partner within finance and operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Govern and provide expert advice and analysis on all standard cost updates: the annual standard cost process, costing of newly released products and business opportunities, and periodic reviews of individual part costs to ensure they are current and accurately reflect manufacturing costs.
- Collaborate with engineering and operations to ensure bills of materials and routings are accurate as well as procurement for purchasing information records.
- Partner with the master data to implement best practices in maintaining the fields relevant to product costing.
- Analyze global variances (production/purchase price/freight) to ensure accuracy of Standard Costs.
- Ensure the integrity of the EEP legacy SAP environment and maintain data in that environment to ensure costing continues to transact correctly in that system;
- Participate in S4 Hana go-lives as well as other SAP initiatives as the subject matter expert in all areas related to standard costing and variances.
- Ensure appropriate controls and compliance with US GAAP.
- Support and assist in the global initiatives relating to cost accounting for all regions/divisions of West.
- Support and assist other functions within the business as required.
Basic Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Business with concentration in Accounting/Finance
- Experience: 3-5 years of experience
- Extensive knowledge of SAP
- Understanding of the manufacturing environment and the associated financial processes
- Knowledge of supply chain, receiving, inventory flow, operations process and manufacturing principles
- Strong ability to assess problem situations to identify causes, gather and process relevant information, generate possible solutions, and make recommendations and/or resolve the problem
- Ability to effectively analyze transactional level detail in an enterprise resource planning system and articulate the key findings to senior management
- Ability to multi-task and drive actions to completion under strict deadlines
- Understanding of GAAP and internal control principles
- High proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- MBA, CPA, ACCA, or CMA
- Prior SAP implementation experience
Travel Requirements
10%: Up to 26 business days per year
Physical Requirements
Sedentary-Exerting up to 10lbs/4kgs of force occasionally, and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.
Additional Requirements
- Medical Device manufacturing requires strict adherence to standards. Working environment is a manufacturing facility, which houses plastic injection molding machines. Must tolerate fumes and particulate generated from various plastics. Work areas are equipped with adequate lighting, cooling/heating and equipment that are in a good working condition. Must work constructively in an environment that may be stressful due to competing resources while at all times maintaining company confidentiality.
- Must be able to work scheduled work week, plus overtime and/or irregular hours as required to complete assignments. May stand or sit for extended periods of time. Must transport oneself to and from other areas of the facility and travel to other divisions when necessary. Must have good visual acuity. If specifically necessitated by customer requirements, must be able to see with or without corrective lenses and distinguish color differences for product and safety issues
