Apprentice Toolmaker
Location: This role is based on the company premises in Mitchelstown, Co. Cork.
Duration: Permanent, Full Time / 39-hour week
Apprenticeship: 4-year structured programme (Level 6 qualification)

Job Summary:
As an Apprentice Toolmaker you will train to manufacture, maintain, and repair precision tools, jigs, fixtures, and moulds used in CNC machining and medical device manufacturing. The role combines hands-on workshop experience with structured apprenticeship training, working alongside experienced toolmakers and engineers in a certified, high-performance environment.
Key Responsibilities:
During the apprenticeship, the successful candidate will learn to:
Manufacturing & Machining
Produce and repair precision tools, moulds, jigs, and fixtures.
Operate conventional and CNC machines (mills, lathes, grinders).
Work with CAD/CAM systems as skills develop.
Technical Interpretation & Measurement
Read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
Use precision measuring equipment (micrometers, calipers, gauges).
Support tool design, modification, and troubleshooting tasks.
Workshop Operations & Quality
Follow established safety, quality, and cleanroom procedures.
Work in line with ISO 9001 & ISO 13485 quality management systems.
Assist senior toolmakers and engineers with daily workflow tasks.
Learning & Development
Complete SOLAS-approved apprenticeship phases (on-the-job and off-the-job training).
Build competence in machining, 3D design, and problem-solving.
Qualifications:
- Leaving Certificate (essential)
