The successful candidate will play a key role in the delivery of large-scale commercial construction projects, ensuring works are carried out safely, efficiently, and in accordance with design specifications and programme requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the EHS Manager in achieving company objectives, ensuring full compliance with all Health, Safety, Environmental and workplace legislation
- Work closely with the Project Construction Team to implement and maintain the Integrated Management System (IMS) across all project activities
- Ensure each site is fully established with EHS Kick off meetings, comprehensive Site-Specific Construction EHS Plan and all required supporting documentation etc.
- Act as a Subject Matter Expert in Stewart’s High-Risk Activities (HRAs), ensuring risks are effectively identified, assessed, and controlled
- Assist in the preparation and review of Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS)
- Support the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and deliver clear training and communication to site teams
- Lead incident reporting and investigations, ensuring root causes are identified and corrective actions are implemented and shared
- Promote and champion a strong, positive health and safety culture across all project sites
- Monitor site activities to ensure compliance with company EHS policies, procedures, and best practices
- Conduct regular site inspections and audits, reporting findings and driving continuous improvement
- Provide expert advice and support to site management teams on all EHS matters
- Liaise with regulatory authorities, clients, and external auditors as required
- Deliver toolbox talks and contribute to ongoing EHS training and awareness initiatives
- Support the ongoing development and continuous improvement of the company’s EHS management systems
- Mentor and support junior EHS team members where required
Candidate Requirements
- Degree or diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or a related discipline
- Minimum 5+ years’ experience in a similar EHS role within the construction industry
- Strong knowledge of Irish health & safety legislation and regulations
- Previous experience in a senior or lead EHS role
- Experience working on large-scale commercial construction projects
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to influence and engage with site teams and senior management
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and reporting systems
- Full clean driving licence
- Valid Safepass and Manual Handling
Desirable:
- Membership of a recognised professional body (e.g. IOSH, IEMA)
- Experience with ISO standards (e.g. ISO 45001, ISO 14001)
