About the role
Are you passionate about turning innovative ideas into real-world manufacturing excellence? You will be responsible for the dedicated innovation facility that will help us assess, prove and implement innovations faster than ever! The role is part of the Global Manufacturing Innovation (MI) organization and will be reporting to the Manufacturing Innovation Senior Customer Manager, Cork. This position demands a hands-on approach with a significant presence on site.
Key Responsibilities:
- The role is responsible for overseeing the operations of the Machining, 3D Printing (Additive Manufacturing) and Metallurgy laboratory located in the Cork facility. This role ensures the safe, reliable, and efficient functioning of all facilities and equipment, enabling seamless execution of innovation activities. As the leader of the facilities, you will champion safety, improve equipment reliability and manage technical staff to support a productive and efficient workspace.
- Ensure all safety procedures and protocols are rigorously followed. Conduct regular safety audits, promote a safety-first culture, and ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations.
- Oversee the maintenance, calibration, and servicing of all equipment, supporting infrastructure and the facility. Coordinate with external vendors for maintenance as needed, ensuring equipment is always ready for use and properly calibrated.
- Maintain high equipment reliability by scheduling regular maintenance and overseeing repairs. Optimize machine utilization to ensure the facility remains highly utilised and targeted productivity levels are met.
- Lead and manage a team of technicians within the development facility, fostering a collaborative and safety-conscious work environment. Ensure team skills are continuously developed and the workload is effectively managed.
- Ensure the SPRINT center is well-stocked with necessary consumables, spares, tooling and materials. Manage inventory levels, order supplies proactively, and keep accurate records of materials used and required.
- Continuously seek opportunities to improve the efficiency of the center by implementing best practices to enhance workflow, safety and equipment performance.
Experience, skills & proficiencies required:
- Proven experience in managing technical or manufacturing facilities, ideally with machining, 3D printing and/or metallurgy capabilities, with relevant technical qualification or equivalent experience in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field preferred.
- Strong knowledge of facility safety standards, regulatory compliance and risk management.
- Experience overseeing equipment maintenance regimes, calibration processes and working with external partners and contractors.
- Demonstrated leadership skills, with experience managing technical teams or technicians, with excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Good understanding of inventory management, procurement, and materials control.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
