About the role
We have new opportunity for a Laboratory Technician in our Kerry site in Charleville, Co. Cork.
This is a full time, seasonal role in our Powder Lab.this role is to cover Holidays, Days off, and other absencess across various Labs at the site.
Hours of work will be a mix of days and shifts, including nights.
In our Kerry Ingredients site in Charleville, we have around 140 employees and we produce articles like skim milk powder for the infant and nutritional sector, functional dairy ingredients for the confectionary industry and a range of cheese powders for the savoury snack market. The site has canteen and onsite parking; and it is situated on Kilmallock Road (R515) withing 15 minutes’ walk from the town centre.
The Laboratory Technician is based in our Powder Lab, within Milk intake. You will be responsible for testing and analysing product samples to ensure that the quality standards are met. Any previous experience as Lab Assistant, Lab Analyst, Quality Technician or QC Technician will be advantageous.
What will I be doing?
The Laboratory Technician is reporting to a QC Laboratory Manager. The Laboratory Technician responsibilities includes
Lab Support for both Environmental and Milk Intake Labs including the following tasks
Testing of wastewater samples, process shore samples, ambient water samples, surface water discharge samples, sludge samples, groundwater samples and any other samples as required to meet sites IE Licence Requirements relating to water. Tests will include, but not limited to, HACH Methods (BOD, COD, Total P, Ortho P, Total Nitrogen, Nitrate, Ammonia), Suspended Solids, pH, and Temperatures
The preparation and testing of required standards, blanks etc as required to ensure quality control of function.
Record keeping, including the recording of all results in Lab Record books, the inputting of results onto excel spreadsheets,transfer of results/data from online systems and maintenance of lab quality control charts.Review of results against control limits and the highlighting of deviationsStock control of laboratory consumables and ordering of same.Implementation of the lab calibration programme, both internal and external calibrations.Completion of EPA Interlab testing.Dispatch of samples for external analysis and management of results of same.Support site audits as required.Any other duties required to fulfil role.
What do I need to be successful?
Lab experience is desirable but not essential. On the job training will be provided with the successful candidate being required to pass a proficiency test at the end of training period.
Computer Literate – working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, SAP.
Proven ability to work on own initiative.
Proven ability to work within a quality control function, with attention to detail and compliance.
Ability to multitask.
Good communication skills.
Ability to deal with auditors, external parties as required.
This is a seasonal role and will require shift work during peak season.
